For some reason I have never – what I can remember - liked New Years Eve. Why I haven’t thought of much before but a conversation at work made me realise something. I don’t like it because it makes me think of all the things that haven’t happened. In other words it gives me a “yet another year wasted feeling”. Wasted from what? I haven’t got any answer on that but decided to take another approach today and concentrate on what actually has happened during 2008.
- I lost some of my overweight.
- I have been both to Budapest and my beloved London.
- I have finally redecorated my hall. It took 6 months weekends but it is worth it.
- Parents sold their house in the countryside and moved into a flat in Trelleborg. In many ways a relief to me as they don’t get any younger.
- Stella has stayed healthy and the only time we have seen the vet this year is for her yearly vaccination. She also has started to be even more “brave” and now does thinks like being on my bed when I’m home, invite other dogs to play.
- At work I have had the opportunity to specialise in dementia due to my project with Gävle Hc.
- I have advanced one level in my Yoga.
- and I’m sure there is more …
I stopped giving New Years promises years ago since I can’t keep them any way. However I do have some hopes and wishes for 2009 and feel that if I write them down, they might come true.
- I want to loose the rest of those annoying kg, enough at least that I feel that I could start jogging without damaging my knees to much. This past year I have realised that I actually miss that activity, something I haven’t done since 2000.
- I would like to have my kitchen remodelled. Today I know how I want it, how much the cost of the new cupboards would be but there are still several question marks like the cost of the craftsmen. The kitchen is one room I have no intention to do myself. It will new pluming, new electric drawn besides that the old kitchen has to be torn down. So what I really need to do it take a grip on it and find the information I need.
- I would love to spend 9 days in London this November too.
- I would love to be able to put my name down for the 2010 Yoga trip to Goa (if there is any)
- I would like to get my writing muse back so that I could finish the two stories I stated summer 2007 and perhaps do the two ideas I have.
- and last but not least I hope to be a better friend to those who are close to me.

And as it's New Years Eve I want to end this, my first blog post, with a poem that takes us Swedes into a New Year, every year:
Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
The flying cloud, the frosty light;
The year is dying in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.
Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow,
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.
Ring out the grief that saps the mind,
For those that here we see no more;
Ring out the feud of rich and poor,
Ring in redress to all mankind.
