On Monday the 6th of February Peter Breck past away after a long time of illness. Summer 2010 his dear beloved Diane wrote to us about his website and told every one about what had happened. For me and those close to Linda this wasn’t any news. She hade threw Diana found out that hi was ill and had been so for a while. With this in my mind I keep telling with, with the experience I have from the type of dementia he had he lived much longer than most and at home with Diana. She must be an amazing woman and I admire her greatly for that. To see the man you been married to for over 50 years change and disappear into his own world must have a terrible experience and hardship. That is what Love is.
Peter and Diane have shared their life with us for so many years. They have been staying in contact with fans who have written to them, through the Writing Desk and so. I can look at the signed photos that I have up on my wall and recall the lovely note that I got with them. Another thing that has followed my for years now is the Peter Breck Calendar, handing there beside me at work. I checked Peter’s website everyday from November waiting for the note – 2012 Calendar is available for order and finally in December it came. I ordered strait away even if the postage to Sweden is $34!!! The couple also shared they life with us I a very personal book called “A family album”.
Now Peter did much more than. IMDb state 74 roles. Seventy Four!!! I wonder how many of those movies and TV-series can be seen and collected today? Well, Amazon.com says 89 but those can be doubles but also the other Peter Breck who is out there (yes there is one more and if fooled me once). Myself I don’t have much of him. Thanks to Linda I got Benji, thanks to Laura have every episode of the Big Valley on DVD and other bits and pieces and I have Black Saddle. I also have his Cd.
Peter Breck was and will always be Nick Barkley to me, no matter what else he did. I can still recall when I saw the first scene in the episode “Night of the wolf”; the scene that is at the top of this page – that’s when I fell in love with Nick Barkley, a love that now is 25 years old. He was handsome, strong, fearless, load, never stepped away from a fight, as a boss he took well care of his staff. And even if he was a tuff guy he had a huge golden heart and deep soft spot for his family, a family he would protect to any cost. He was a gentleman!!
He gave me acquaint all over the world and some very dear friends. I started to write. I joined groups which at one point the writing desk was the most important. I started this blog to keep in touch with some friends. I even did a cross-stitch.
Today a lot of things have change from the day I found Nick Barkley on the internet. Since Linda past away, I just have visit WD to see if there have been any news about Peter that I had missed elsewhere. As from now I don’t know if I will continue doing that either.
I only have contact with a very few wonderful ladies today compared with from start.
But …
There is one thing that will never change. Nick Barkley will always be my cowboy, a man that I have had a crush on since 1987!
So to end this.
Peter Breck may you rest in peace reassured that at least on of all your rolls will forever last in the mind and hearts of many ladies around the world. Thanks to you comunitys have started on the internet, friendships have started, ect. You will never be forgotten.
As for Nick Barkley he is still as alive as he has ever been, in his early thirty’s sending of a huge smile to all of us who need it today.
